Important community meeting regarding CBM quarry application in our community. 

The leaders of FCPG met recently with our lawyer and our planners to discuss CBM Aggregates’ application (the “Application”) to amend the Town of Caledon’s (“Caledon”) Official Plan and Zoning By-law No. 2006-50.

FCPG’s experts have concluded that Caledon’s Interim Control By-law No. 2022-075 remains an effective tool to implement aggregate policies that offer enhanced protection to the community of Caledon BEFORE Town Council  decides whether to approve CBM’s Application.

Planning Staff for the Town of Caledon inexplicably delayed informing Mayor Groves and Council of their processing of the CBM Application. This delay is of great concern to FCPG, and is shared by Mayor Groves and Council.

FCPG’s experts recommend a course of action which, if implemented by Council, empowers Mayor Groves and Council to fulfill their commitment to protect the community of Caledon.

FCPG is requesting a meeting with Mayor Groves to discuss FCPG’s expert recommendations, most notably the assembly of a Joint Action Review Team (JART), which has proven to be successful in municipalities such as Milton, and Burlington.   

Mayor Groves has agreed to attend the FCPG Community Meeting on April 18, 2023, where FCPG will request clarification on the Town’s position with respect to the CBM Application.
