Strength in Numbers!

We in Caledon are not alone in wanting to protect drinking water, clean air, community safety, and natural spaces and species!

FCPG is one of a number of community groups comprising the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition. The coalition was formed to demand the Ontario government take the actions necessary to protect lives, communities and the environment from the devastating impacts of the gravel mining industry.

Through this coalition, we in Caledon have been able to share our Town’s progressive new aggregate policies. Other municipalities such as those in Halton are now considering the adoption of the Air Quality standards we successfully advocated for.

Attend a rally on Saturday, January 25 to tell Premier Ford and Milton MPP Zee Hamid: Keep Your Promise—Stop the Campbellville and Mt. Nemo Quarries!

Don’t miss this in-person, indoor event in Milton, featuring live musical performances by Sarah Harmer and Jim Cuddy.

Premier Ford Made A Promise

Premier Ford promised residents of Milton riding he would stop the proposed Campbellville quarry. MPP Zee Hamid also made a promise during the provincial by-election last spring to stop both the proposed expansion of Nelson’s quarry on Mt. Nemo and the proposed Campbellville quarry.

With speculation mounting about an early provincial election, now is the time to hold Ford and Hamid to their promises, and to set a powerful precedent for communities fighting unwanted gravel quarries across Ontario.

Join the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition, CORE Burlington and ACTION Milton at a rally on Saturday January 25 from 1 - 3pm, at the Gambrel Barn Country Heritage Park (8560 Tremaine Road Milton, Ontario L9T 2X3), to demand Premier Ford and Milton MPP Zee Hamid fulfill their promise before the provincial election.

In June 2020 Premier Ford said in Milton:

I believe in governing for the people and when the people don’t want something, you don’t do it. It’s very simple. I know the mayor doesn’t want it. No one wants it. I don’t want it. We’re going to make sure it doesn’t happen one way or another.”

The mayors of Milton and Burlington will speak and reconfirm that they don’t want these quarries in their communities. They will be joined by speakers representing the people of Milton and Burlington. Mayor Groves and Mayor James Seeley of Puslinch, who is also chair of TAPMO (Top Aggregate Producing Municipalities of Ontario) will also speak.

Make a plan to attend this rally, proudly wearing our BOOM! T-shirts , and support the demands of the mayors and people of Milton and Burlington, who say they do not want a new quarry in their community.

Will you come?
